Palm Sunday
24th March 2024
A message from Fr Inch Episcopal Vicar for Pastoral Organisation.
On Saturday 9th March it was announced to the parishioners of St Mary’s that from the 2nd Sunday of Easter a priest of the Institute of Christ the King, Sovereign Priest (ICKSP) will be coming to St Mary’s to celebrate Mass.
It is the intention of the Archbishop and of the Institute to see if creating a “Shrine Church” is a possible solution to ensure the future of St Mary’s. And so there will be a time of consultation.
During this period there will be Mass and devotions on Wednesday at 12 noon and on Sunday at 10.30am. These Masses will be in Latin using the 1962 Rite of the Mass. (The 5.00pm Saturday Mass at St Mary’s will be celebrated at St John’s as will other services.) This time of consultation will enable everyone to know what the proposed “Shrine Church” will look and feel like. It is hoped that this will provide an enrichment in the life of the local church.
The parish of St Mary’s will come under the pastoral care of Fr Ian O’Shea, as parochial Administrator, pro tempore.
At the end of June there will be a further meeting for the parishioners of St Mary’s so that they can be consulted on the way forward. Please keep this in your prayers.
